System Title
|
Automated system for process control (PCS) and emergency shutdown (ESD) for methane turbo unit M-2.
|
Purpose of the System Development
|
The system was developed to replace the out-of-date pneumatic automation devices with automated control systems based on electronic control tools and automation, including computing units.
|
Description of Automation
|
Methane turbo unit M-2 of the shop for pyrogases compression and separation is aimed for methane compression of LP ethylene unit, arriving from gas separating heat exchanger T-40 from 0.005 MPa (0.05 kgs/sm2) up to 0.65 MPa (6.5 kgs/sm2). Methane turbo unit M-2 is a process facility of the 2nd grade of explosive hazard. Rated capacity is 9800 nm3/hour. Condenser steam turbine serves as a drive unit.
Turbo unit consists of the following components:
- Condenser steam turbine including barring speed
- Two stage turbo compressor
- Steam and condensate systems
- Systems for lubricating and control oil
- Cooling system
- Instrument air system
- Systems for nitrogen supply to turbo units seals
- Valves
- Control valves
|
System Functions
|
- Displaying, registration and storage of process data
- Actuating devices control
- Automatic transfer switch for condensation pumps, oil pumps and power inputs
- Control of pressure, flow rate, level and frequency of rotation
- Surge protection and control
- Automated startup of turbo unit and warm-up
- Emergency shutdown system
