Purpose of the System Development

The system for recording of power resources, raw materials and final products is aimed for metering consumed power resources and raw materials.

Description of Automation

All pipelines within Ethylene production were to be automated, including:

  • Instrument air of medium and high pressure
  • Heating water for sewage and industrial purposes - direct and reverse
  • Medium pressure steam at the inlet and outlet
  • Nitrogen of medium and high pressure
  • Benzene from the tank farm and boiler fuel to the tank farm
  • Hydrogenation product to the tank farm and methanol from warehouse
  • Liquid ethylene to the tank farm and gaseous commercial ethylene to high pressure polyethylene
  • Commercial propylene to the warehouse and butane-butadiene fraction to the treatment unit for liquefied gases of hydrocarbon pyrolysis
  • Fuel gas at the inlet and river water
  • Blow vent return from Polypropylene production

System Functions

  • Measuring and processing signals for differential pressure sensors and temperature sensors and displaying current data on the operator's station
  • Archiving and generating reports on recorded parameters for a shift and day
  • Storing reports for a year with their consequent rerecording, preparation of reports and their transfer to the upper level of company PSC upon SQL requests
  • Alarm and recording failures of sensors, their exceeding certain limits and losing link with the controller to the log
  • Adjustment of flow rate regarding temperature and pressure for especially difficult products (of ethylene-gas type), it provides the enter of the table containing correlation between density, temperature and pressure
