On April 6, 2009 Emerson made a presentation on migration from RS3 to DeltaV , this event was held on the facilities of Tomsk Electronic Company and aimed mostly for automation departments of OAO Tomskgazprom, OOO Tomskneftekhim and OOO SME TEC.
Ian Pickett, European Migration Specialist of Emerson, described the existing opportunities for migration from RS3 into more advanced DeltaV system. RS3 system has been successfully operated since the middle 90s, all in all there are about 1750 such systems of various configurations worldwide, and they all require some upgrade since their service life is coming to end. Emerson developed the special strategy aimed to migrate to DeltaV keeping the hardware of the old system as much as possible. The presentation raised big interest and was followed by a discussion.
Also Metran and Emerson made a joint presentation on wireless instrumentation systems and their integration into DeltaV.
Those participating in the seminar got acquainted with production facilities and new developments of SME TEC, evaluating very positively the QC systems and offered to discuss expansion of joint activities.
